my Auntie Irene became midwife last week

Auntie Irene helped her Golden Retriever in labour last Sunday from 7am – 10pm. Ally, the dog, gave birth to 6 adorable pups, one stillborn. The puppies still have to be with their Mommy for a month, before 3 of them (all female) will be given away (with a price). If you want one, gimme a holler. This movie could be like the best horror movie I’ve ever seen. The notorious Room 1408 (add up the numbers u get 13) at The Dolphin Hotel is spooky beyond words. I bought the DVD expecting ghosts and ghouls and zombies synonymous with “American horror movies” but this is nothing like that. It is very much psychologically eerie and it’s very brilliant. Actually, most book adaptations are brilliant and this is one from a short-story of the same title by Stephen King.

PLOT
Mike Enslin (John Cusack) is obsessed with the paranormal, particularly the ‘other side’. After years of being a paranormal writer and investigator , he has found, well, nothing and is as sceptic as ever. Mike is ready to give up his search for evidence of the paranormal. Until he receives a postcard of the Dolphin Hotel, New York City, stating “DON’T ENTER 1408”. Thus, possible subject for his new book. Mike is determined to prove that the rumours surrounding the room are fakes by staying in the room himself. He cannot be dissuaded by anyone, not even the hotel manager Mr. Olin (Samuel L Jackson), who persistently tries to warn him off, saying the room is “evil” and has witnessed 56 deaths – both murder and natural causes, nobody lasted more than an hour. Mr. Olin even tries to offer Mike an upgrade to the Pesidential Suite with a complimentary $800 cognac. But this only drives Mike to be more adamant on staying. That is until Room 1408 shows him its true colours… and its many horrors…
